More Than a Dozen Autonomous Vehicles to Hit Downtown Jacksonville Streets in 2025

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) has unveiled the autonomous vehicles it plans to roll out across downtown in 2025. The goal is to have more than a dozen self-driving vehicles operating in the city center next year.

The nearly 5-kilometer route will be known as the Bay Street Innovation Corridor, connecting downtown with Jacksonville’s sports and entertainment district, and featuring around a dozen stops along the way.

The initiative aims to modernize and enhance the appeal of this part of the city. With this project, Jacksonville will become the first U.S. city to implement a fully autonomous public transportation network—setting a model for other cities across Florida and the country.

The state’s proactive support of innovation through forward-thinking policies and legislation has been key in making this new mobility option a reality for Jacksonville residents.
